Texas Children's Hospital

Texas Children's Hospital (TCH) is the largest freestanding pediatric hospital in the United States and ranked among the national's top three pediatric cancer institutions by U.S. News & World Report. TCH is dedicated to providing the finest pediatric patient care, education, and research. Consistent with the mission of its founding fathers, TCH provides care to any sick or injured child regardless of race, creed, or ability to pay.

Texas Children's Hospital is committed to creating a community of healthy children, and that commitment spreads throughout the organization at every level. Born out of a mission to provide the finest pediatric patient care, regardless of a family's ability to pay, Texas Children's has been dedicated to advancing and improving the community for more than 50 years. It's a commitment that extends well beyond the hospital walls and even the state and national borders. Texas Children's believes that every child should have access to quality health care, whenever and wherever they need it.

Texas Children's Cancer Center

The # 1 cause of non-accidental death in children is cancer. Texas Children's Cancer Center is an internationally recognized center of excellence for pediatric cancer care and research, and it is the largest pediatric cancer and blood disease program in the United States. The physicians are board certified in pediatric hematology and oncology, and are faculty members of Baylor College of Medicine. The heroes at Texas Children's Cancer Center give hope and comfort to thousands of patients each year, from all over the world.

Located within Texas Children's Hospital, the facilities are fully dedicated, equipped and staffed to care for children and adolescents with cancer and blood disorders. Here, in 21 different research labs, the physician-scientists conduct breakthrough laboratory and clinical research aimed at developing new treatments so that all children with cancer will be cured.

This year, over 25,000 patients will be seen in the center's outpatient clinic. They'll come from all over Texas, from 35 other states and from 26 other countries. No patient is denied treatment, regardless of their ability to pay.

Derricks & Diamonds salutes the physicians and staff of Texas Children's Cancer Center and is the chosen beneficiary of Schlumberger. We are happy to help in the fight against cancer, but we know that until we win that war, they will be there, ready to lend a hand to those in need.

Texas Children's Charity Care Program

Today, 1.4 million children are uninsured in Texas. Without insurance, these children are four times more likely to have necessary health care delayed and six times more likely to go without medical care altogether. Texas Children's turns no child away, regardless of their insurance or financial status. Through the Charity Care program, Texas Children's Hospital strives to provide every child with the highly skilled, compassionate care he or she deserves.

For example, 20 percent of the hospital's charity care dollars are used to support patients in the Texas Children's Cancer Center, where more than 50 percent of the patients receive some type of medical assistance. The Charity Care program may cover essential and often life-saving procedures such as bone marrow transplants.

Every gift to Texas Children's Charity Care helps. A $150 donation can cover the cost of one blood test; $1,000 pays for a 4-hour outpatient chemotherapy infusion; $4200 covers the cost of tests to diagnose cancer.

More than that, Texas Children's Charity Care program supports the health care needs of the community at every level. In 2007, Texas Children's provided a total of $128 million in unreimbursed charity patient care, financial assistance for families, and community education and outreach efforts. These efforts include hosting community health education seminars, free health screenings and other community-based programs such as routine checkups and immunizations, as well as providing leadership for community partnerships and collaboration.

Derricks & Diamonds is excited to be part of that collaboration and the charity care program is the chosen beneficiary of National Oilwell Varco. We believe healthy communities start with healthy kids, and we are proud to help Texas Children's Hospital take on that mission.

Snowdrop Foundation

Snowdrop Foundation's mission statement is assisting patients and families at Texas Children's Cancer Center through funding for continued research to eliminate childhood cancer and scholarships for college bound pediatric cancer patients and survivors. Therefore, Derricks & Diamonds discovered Snowdrop Foundation to be the ideal primary beneficiary of its raffle and silent auction.
